Job Details

Are you looking for a better work-life balance and to step away from NHS pressures and demands?

Would you love a job which lets you spend more time with patients in a supportive and caring environment?

About our Role

We are looking for a compassionate and motivated Senior Neonatal Staff Nurse to join our team in the designated Level Two Neonatal Unit on the Isle of Man. Approximately 850 – 900 babies are born here every year and of these, 100-120 require care on the Neonatal Unit.

The aim of our Neonatal Service is to provide as extensive a range of care and facilities to ensure that where possible, the needs of the babies and their families are met on island.  In doing so, we differ from many other Units of comparable size in the UK in the range of services we provide.

A new purpose built Neonatal unit was built to BAPM Standards and opened in 2015. To have a look at our unit and its’ facilities, please take a look at our tour of the unit video: Click here

The range of services provided by the staff on the unit includes:

  • Neonatal Intensive Care
  • Neonatal High Dependency Care
  • Neonatal Special Care
  • Community Neonatal Outreach Care
  • Neonatal Air Ambulance Service
  • Neonatal Audiometry

Applications are welcomed from experienced neonatal nurses as well as those who are less experienced who would like to progress a career in this speciality.

Why join us?

The unpredictable nature of our workload, the flexibility required and the opportunities to experience other aspects, such as the In Flight Nursing, means that life here is very interesting and more exciting than you might think at first glance.

Working on the Island also provides an opportunity to step away from NHS pressures and demands. Our healthcare system is separate to the UK NHS, provided by a service based on that in the United Kingdom, but independently financed and administered within the Island.

The island has a lot to offer and living here you benefit from:

  • A great work-life balance
  • A relaxed way of life in a safe environment with low crime
  • Fantastic lifestyle opportunities - You could enjoy an outdoor lifestyle - walking, diving, sailing, mountain biking and great beaches
  • Low income tax rates, maximum rate being 20%

We also operate a well-resourced education and training centre on site and provide excellent opportunities for CPD, including regular opportunities for placements in regional tertiary centres for updating and development.

We are very active in the North West Neonatal Operational Delivery Network and through this activity, on island training and experience is delivered by Network specialists in Simulation training, NLS, In Flight nursing etc.

We provide an environment which allows you to apply your skills to the full range of neonates from birth to discharge while being part of a small, close knit, flexible team who enjoy the challenges of providing the service. The flexible working patterns we can offer provide for maximum choice and time off.

Relocation support

For this post we also offer interview expenses and a relocation package of up to £7,000 based on receipts. Subsidised accommodation and assistance with housing costs may also be available.

The Isle of Man is offering a National Insurance Holiday Scheme which allows newly employed, relocated or returning residents to apply for a refund on their National Insurance contributions for their first year of living or returning to the Isle of Man, with refunds capped at £4,000.
