Job Details

The Lister Hospital and its outpatient centres are located in the heart of Chelsea, and have consistently provided care and treatment in London for over 30 years. We offer access to leading consultants from London's top teaching hospitals and contemporary treatment, with several highly specialised units including fertility, gastroenterology and cardiology.

With 57 beds across three floors, we offer a specialised service, bespoke to our patient’s needs. Our six-bed critical care unit provides dedicated specialised care to seriously ill patients with a range of surgical or medical conditions. 

Job Description

The Healthcare Assistant will assist in meeting the physical, psychological needs of the patients and ensuring a smooth and effective running of the unit.

Hours: 37.5 hours/ week (working Long Days, Nights and Weekends)

Salary: £21,000 - £24,000 per annum (dependent on candidate experience)

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Provide basic nursing care to patients under the supervision of trained staff
  • Recognise own limitations and request assistance as necessary
  • Assist in the movement and transfer of patients within the critical care areas
  • Assist nursing staff in emergency situations as directed
  • Ensure all patient charges captured
  • Monitor stock levels and report shortfall
  • To assist in maintaining the clinical environment in a manner which promotes hygiene and the health needs of both patients and staff
  • Ensure a clean and tidy environment
  • Report any faulty equipment to a senior member of staff or team leader and liaise with Bio-med
  • Daily checking and recording of fridge temperatures
  • Assist with the recording and maintaining of equipment and materials

Skills & Experience

  • Previous Healthcare Assistant experience within a hospital setting is essential
  • Previous experience within Ortho/ General Surgery is desirable
  • NVQ in Health and Social Care is essential
  • Care Certificate
  • Phlebotomy/ Cannulation is desirable
  • Excellent communication skills
