Job Details

We are looking for Nurses to join our Stroke team as part of wider plans to grow and expand both our stroke and neurology services to become a neurosciences centre of excellence.

Our stroke service is well established and one of the most rapidly expanding units in the country. Care is delivered by our Nurses who are part of our multi-disciplinary team which includes doctors, speech and language therapists, physiotherapists, occupational therapists, dieticians, psychologists and social workers. We have established our neurosciences research team in which our Nurses take an active role. Unlike most stroke services the team at NNUH follow the whole patient journey from presentation in the Emergency Department right through to the rehabilitation.

This includes

  • Stroke Alert Nurses based in the Emergency Department
  • Our protected hyper acute stoke unit which has 13 monitored beds
  • Our Stroke Acute unit which is part of the larger Neurosciences unit
  • Rehabilitation unit in the community

We are currently developing more specialist Nurse roles to improve our patients care and offer our nurses exciting career progression opportunities.

At NNUH we are close to realising our ambition to be a consistently SSNAP ‘A’ rated Stroke organisation; we have achieved this by holding a series of workshops with our clinical teams where we have developed an action plan to ensure we implement lasting improvement to the care we provide for stroke patients.

Why NNUH?

Just think where your NNUH career could take you. Norfolk and Norwich university Hospital is the 6th largest acute hospital in the UK with new clinics and services being introduced each year, the possibilities are endless. With strong links to the University of East Anglia and Norwich Research Park we want to give our staff every opportunity and the support to achieve their potential. This also allows us to have an imaginative approach to our nursing teams, including Nurse Registrars and Nurse Consultants running their own clinics and Advanced Nurse Practitioners taking a leading role in the care of patients.

Why Norwich?

In Norwich a staggering 77% of people say they love their job. Although less than 2 hours from London and serviced by excellent transport links , Norwich is one of few UK cities that still retain a strong local identity and with that a strong sense of community – people walk down the street and say hello to each other, baristas remember our coffee order, you get to know about interesting local projects.

This strong sense of self along with excellent shopping, eating out, affordable house prices and excellent schooling is why Norwich has been ranked by the Guardian as the best city to work in.
