Job Details

Be part of something special by joining our team caring for older patients at NNUH.

We are looking to recruit Registered Nurses on Kimberley Ward -a 38 bedded ward specializing in patients with complex health needs and infectious diseases, to help us deliver the gold standard of care our patients come to expect from us.

We’re an innovative and dynamic specialty, caring for around 200 inpatients at any time across our services. Our award winning teams provide compassionate, person-centred care for older people in hospital, working closely alongside multidisciplinary colleagues.

Older Peoples Medicine is one of the largest specialities in the hospital and offers many varied pathways for career progression. We offer a range of services across our four dedicated Older People’s Medicine wards including a short-stay ward, an ortho-medical ward and a ward specialising in dementia care and the UK’s first Older Peoples Emergency Department. We have a dedicated dementia support team, integrated specialist volunteers and a programme of stimulating activities and events helping to provide the best experience for our patients in hospital.

Our teams love the diagnostic challenge of working with older patients with complex needs and the benefit of sharing skills with clinical colleagues from other specialties. On our OPM wards you’ll have the opportunity to develop a broad understanding of the needs of older people, build experience of the wider healthcare system and take advantage of a variety of professional development opportunities.

There’s a variety of exciting projects to get involved in as we further enhance our services for the future. We’re developing our frailty pathways, building on our Dementia Friends programme and investigating new ways of providing the best care for our patients through dedicated rapid assessment clinics. We’re also a major teaching and research hospital and are passionate about developing nursing educational pathways across the department.
