Cardiac Nurse Specialist

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced children’s nurse to join our current team of amazing Cardiac Nurse Specialists. We are looking for a children’s cardiac nurse with vision and enthusiasm, to contribute to the continued quality and the developmental success of the service and with a commitment to children and families, both internal and external to the service.

The role includes managing your own caseload of fragile children, including those with Single Ventricle physiology, and their families with complex cardiac needs, along the cardiac pathway as an inpatient and enhancing outpatient care using a bundle of care. You will also support families with your specialist knowledge pre and post cardiac surgery.  You will need to work closely with other professionals, including the fetal cardiology team, transition & adolescent services, cardiology consultants, cardiac nurse practitioners, paediatricians, allied health professionals and local children’s community services. You need to be confident in working with families, both internal and external to the trust.

We will develop your skills to provide “Home Monitoring Programmes” for our most complex cardiac infants, for which good clinical assessment skills would be essential, to support your clinical decision-making and escalation of care, as well as an ability to teach families and other health professionals. We would also support you to becoming a Basic Life Support Instructor.
