About the Role

Two opportunities have arisen within our Dementia Care and Support Services on the Isle of Man for experienced, caring, enthusiastic and compassionate Nurses to join our team. Thie Meanagh is a short term transitional service which offers specialist care and support to service users living with dementia who present with behaviours which are distressing for them and/or others. Thie Meanagh offers a step up, step down and outreach support service. 

Responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting the provision of a holistic service for older people living with Dementia and Challenging behaviour, ensuring that the environment and the working behaviours of staff, support person centred care
  • Focusing on the strengths and abilities of the Service Users, be responsible and accountable for the assessment, planning, delivery and evaluation of care for a delegated group of Service Users, ensuring a person centred approach is used
  • Responsibility for the day to day coordination of a shift
  • Active participation with the outreach support when directed by a senior nurse

Mental Health Nurse (RMN/RNMH) qualification is desirable, however a 1st level Registered Nurse who has not achieved this qualification will be considered providing they have:

  • Knowledge of dementia, including research findings and evidence-based interventions
  • Experience in managing risk and developing risk management plans.
  • The ability to share relevant knowledge with other care providers to provide a period of intensive support when required

Please note an enhanced with barring police check is required for this post, which the Department will cover the cost of for you.
