Night Nurse

Are you excited about the opportunity of providing excellent nursing care to the elderly?

As one of the largest Not for Profits Care providers in the UK specialising in providing relationship-centred care for older people in nursing, residential and independent living homes. As a charity we ensure that any revenue goes straight back into our homes for the benefit of our residents and staff who look after them. We have a deep commitment to quality and this is shown by our 2nd place in the national CQC compliance league table rating 87% of our homes good or outstanding.

Westbury Court provides accommodation for 42 residents, some of whom have complex nursing needs. You will be joining a very committed team, led by a supportive management team. We develop our carers and recognize their abilities. A number of our employees have become shift leaders. We are open to suggestions and focus on solutions to problems. You will be encouraged to have your say and will be listened to. We achieved this by working together. We will welcome your input and, if you have a special interest in areas such as dementia, dignity, infection control, moving and handling, we can facilitate your development.

What will you be doing?

You can expect a wide range of responsibilities, from developing tailored care plans, providing medicine safely to overseeing the care team; overall delivering excellence in everything you do.

Working autonomously, managing a caseload of complex and varied cases which will be challenging as well as rewarding. You will have the ability to understand and manage the complexities of the multitude of clinical and psychological factors that affect the health and well-being of our elderly residents, whilst in turn supporting their families.

Our Nurses also supervise our Nurse Associates and support the care team by designating the nursing assignments, leading on clinical issues and making up the working schedules. Ensuring everyone does things the right way.

What experience do you need?

Our Registered Nurses are highly valued, combining a set of key skills and experience essential to delivering the quality care that allows our residents to age with dignity. The social care landscape is changing: as we live longer, we have more complex clinical needs. We are therefore looking for nurses who have the following qualities that we consider to be essential to this role:

Professionalism and resilience

Caring for our resident’s psychological and social well-being can be challenging at times. It’s during these times we expect our Nurses to continue to act in a professional manner, show determination, drive and commitment to work through the set backs. You will also be patient, understanding, empathetic, and compassionate, with a true desire to build long term, close , and mutually satisfying relationships with your patients rather than them just be a number.

Effective communication

The ability to communicate is crucial to any healthcare role, but particularly for those working with our residents living with Dementia. We are looking for Nurses who’s verbal and written communication is clear, effective and appropriate for the situation or audience.

Providing excellent care

A strong commitment to providing the highest standards of care to achieve freedom of choice for our residents wherever possible. By recognising that each person is an individual, involving them in daily decisions, we believe enables them to feel control in their own life.

Leading and getting the best from others

Our Nurses lead by example, sharing their knowledge and skills and seeking to continuously improve our practices to ensure our residents receive best quality of care all of the time.

In addition we require you to be a Registered Nurse and currently be registered with NMC. Experience of producing well developed care plans and risk assessments is important too, as is an understanding of regulatory frameworks, including DoLs and MCA.

What will you get in return?

The rewards for our Nurses are great. Our roles offer greater flexibility in working patterns, more autonomy with decision making, the opportunity to build close relationships with the residents in your care in a consultative, case-management role.

We are committed to continuing professional development of our staff and you will have excellent opportunities to specialise in many different areas such as palliative care or dementia care through mentoring and further education.

In addition to this, as a key member of the OSJCT team you can expect benefits such as:

  • Fully funded renewal of your NMC PIN
  • Competitive Company pension
  • Paid breaks
  • Overtime and weekend rates of pay
  • Competitive holiday entitlement
  • Free DBS
  • Free uniform
  • Free car parking
  • Refer a Friend bonus scheme paying £1000 for nurse recommendations
  • Offer to pay Tier 2 visa application fee for eligible nurses
  • “My Rewards” offering you discount on shopping, days out, restaurants and much more
