Night Nurse, full time 36 hours 19.45pm - 07.45am £20.25/hour (£21.25 weekend night shifts) circa £38,000 mid point NHS Band 7

The Orders of St John Care Trust is the 3rd largest not for profit care provider in the UK specialising in providing relationship-centred care for older people in nursing, residential and independent living homes. As a charity we ensure that any revenue goes straight back into our homes for the benefit of our residents and staff who look after them. We have a deep commitment to quality and this is shown by our 2nd place in the national CQC compliance league table rating 87% of our homes good or outstanding.

Jubilee Lodge is a 74 bedded, modern care home accommodating nursing, re enablement and dementia care in the beautiful Cotswold Village of Bourton on the Water. The home is accessible from Cheltenham and surrounding areas. You will be joining an enthusiastic and committed team who strive to provide person centred care. The home is very proactive within the community, has its own minibus and runs many social events for residents, employees and local communities alike. The team itself is supplemented by a group of volunteers who are actively involved in the running of the homes shop and supporting activities. You will enjoy the vibrant atmosphere at Jubilee Lodge where we promote friendly interactions between residents and employees.

We're looking for a qualified Nurse to take on responsibility for our night shifts.  You will complete and update care plans, providing medication, support the care team as required and deliver excellence in everything you do.  Our nurses take responsibility for the nursing provision during their shift working alongside a team of carer.

Working autonomously, managing a caseload of complex cases which will be challenging as well as rewarding. You will have the ability to understand and manage the complexities of the multitude of clinical and psychological factors that affect the health and well-being of our elderly residents, whilst in turn supporting their families. Our Nurses also supervise our Nurse Associates and support the care team by designating the nursing assignments, leading on clinical issues and making up the working schedules. Ensuring everyone does things the right way.

Our Nurses are highly valued and deliver quality care that allows our residents to age with dignity.

You will have at least an associate degree in Nursing or a Bachelor of Science in Nursing and be currently registered with NMC. Experience of producing well developed care plans and detailed risk assessments is important too, as is an understanding of regulatory frameworks, including DoLs and MCA.

What will you get in return?

Despite the challenges, the rewards for both our Nurses are great. Our roles offer greater flexibility in working patterns, a little more autonomy with decision making, in a consultative, case-management role.

We are committed to continuing professional development of our staff and you will have excellent opportunities to specialise in many different areas such as palliative care or dementia care through mentoring and further education.

In addition to this, as a key member of the OSJCT team you can expect benefits such as:

  • Fully funded renewal of your NMC PIN
  • Company pension
  • Paid breaks
  • Overtime and weekend rates of pay
  • Free DBS
  • Free uniform
  • Refer a Friend bonus scheme paying £1000 for nurse recommendations
  • Offer to pay Tier 2 visa application fee for eligible nurses
  • “My Rewards” offering you discount on shopping, days out, restaurants and much more
