School Matron / Nurse – Pangbourne, Berkshire

Our client is an IAPS co-educational day and boarding school (280 pupils aged 3 to 13) set in beautiful Berkshire countryside outside Pangbourne and a few miles away from Reading.

They are seeking a caring and resilient individual to join their Welfare Team as a School Matron/Nurse. The successful applicant will be kind, cheerful and adaptable, enjoy working as a proactive member of a team dedicated to the care and welfare of our busy school community. A high level of empathy and a good sense of humour and cheerful disposition are essential.

Outline Job Description:

Medical credentials are preferred (R.N/N.N.E.B or similar plus an advanced first aid certificate), but consideration would be given to any candidate who possesses the qualities they are seeking.

Working hours will be full time during term time (plus a few days at the start and end of the long holidays in preparation for each term). School accommodation (one bedroom flat) may be available if required.

The first area of responsibility of the School Matron/Nurse is a medical one. Under the guidance of their Health and Welfare Co-ordinator and working alongside their other day matron, he/she will be in charge of the day to day running of our Sick Bay and for the medical provision of their community.

In addition, the successful candidate will have a clear understanding of the key pastoral role he/she will have in the school, as well as the confidence to deal with medical emergencies and chronic illnesses.
