Junior Sister-Oncology Inpatients ward @ The Christie Private Care

Hours: 37.5hrs PW

Salary: £30,888 - £38,090 plus 9% shift enhancement dependent on experience plus benefits

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced oncology nurse to work within an exceptional multidisciplinary team at The Christie Private Care, you will plan, deliver and evaluate high standards of nursing care, ensuring a first-class service is delivered to our patients.

As a sister, you will lead an experienced nursing team to assess, plan, and deliver high standards of specialist care to ensure that patients are cared for in a safe, caring and comfortable environment. This will include meeting their medical, physical and emotional needs by effectively communicating with the patient and their families 

The sister will require exceptional clinical leadership skills that can be effectively used to support the wider team to deliver the highest standards of care. You will be required to co-ordinate and manage a busy and demanding unit on a daily basis, be the first line support for junior staff and manage your own team of staff, including sickness and absence management, carrying out personal development reviews and managing off duty requirements

This is a full-time role working 37.5hrs per week working on rotation long days, nights and weekends – shift pattern is 7.30am – 8pm and 8pm – 7.30am.


The attractive and competitive salary for this role is between £ £30,888 and £38,090(plus shift enhancement) and will be dependent upon skills and experience.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Assess, plan and deliver care to meet patient and family needs
  • Act as a clinical role model for all members of staff and demonstrate good clinical practice at all times
  • Work well within a team, supervising, coaching and developing junior cancer services staff and deputising for the Senior Nursing team when necessary
  • Contribute to research based care and other practice development initiatives.
  • Promote a progressive attitude to the continual improvement of patient care and the services offered within our Oncology unit

Skills & Experience

  • NMC Registered nurse, with post qualification
  • NHS or Private ward experience
  • Pro-active team player wishing to pursue and develop a career in Oncology/Chemotherapy and Surgery
  • Passionate about patient care, respectful, responsible and committed
  • Minimum 12 months Oncology and or Surgical experience is desirable. We offer a three-month supportive probationary period which includes some supernumerary time
  • Candidates to be passionate about delivering high standards of care and willing to invest in their own personal development and invest in the development of the unit in order that we can continue to keep providing exceptional care
