This is a Monday to Friday office-based role with flexible start and finish times between 8am-6pm.

What you'll be doing

Our Oncology Nurse Advisors provide clinical support, guidance and information to customers through all phases of their cancer diagnosis who are undergoing treatment with Bupa. They use a variety of techniques and methods of communication to support customers with their long term and complex needs to make appropriate and well-informed decisions about their onward healthcare journey.

What's a typical day?

This is a telephone-based case management role where you will be speaking to patients at every stage of their cancer diagnosis to provide practical advice and clinical support relating to any aspect of their care, treatment and symptoms. This will include assessment of eligibility for emerging and high cost treatments, support with hospice and palliative care and ongoing case management.

Who we're looking for?

  • A Registered General Nurse with valid PIN
  • Specialist experience as a Chemotherapy Nurse, Cancer Services Nurse or Oncology Nurse - Band 6 ideally
  • Experience of Hospice care and palliative care also highly desirable
  • A strong understanding of cancer treatments and appropriate pathways
  • Ability to demonstrate a high level of clinical nursing knowledge
  • Ability to handle uncertain situations calmly and professionally
  • Ability to handle customer calls with confidence - a good telephone manner is essential
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and a strong team player
  • Ability to make decisions based on the facts and information available
