Job Details

This is an exciting time to join a dynamic and rapidly growing new workforce in West London NHS Trust Children and Young People’s Mental Health Services. The Mental Health Support Teams (MHSTs) are part of an exciting trailblazer project funded by NHS England, Health Education England and supported by an extensive partnership from across the London Borough of Ealing.

The aim is to improve the mental health and wellbeing of children and young people in the community in response to the government’s Green Paper for Young People’s Mental Health.

Since Ealing has been successful in gaining funding for a third Mental Health Support Team which will complement our two existing teams, we are looking for up to three Band 7 CAMHS practitioners to work in our MHSTs in Ealing.

Two posts will be aligned to our new team whose targeted focus will be supporting children and young people in schools who have or may go on and be diagnosed with either ASD and/or ADHD. Therefore, we are interested in hearing from candidates who are both interested in and have experience of working with this client group.

The role will involve diverse interventions such as group work, training, and consulting to education colleagues, in addition to carrying out assessments and holding a caseload. This is a specialist mental health post but successful candidates will be supported to maintain their professional registration and will have access to support/supervision from colleagues from within their discipline.

The post holders will offer supervision to a team of Band 4 Trainee Education Wellbeing Practitioners and a team of Band 5 Education Wellbeing Practitioners/CWPs and will be expected to complete a CYPI-APT PGCert course in supervising low intensity interventions at UCL. Any offer to successful applicants will be conditional on eligibility for the course alongside a successful interview plus the usual employment check criteria such as references, DBS etc.

We offer high quality supervision, with excellent CPD and career development opportunities. If you are interested in partnership working and want to help shape new models of evidence-based support to promote the emotional wellbeing of children and young people, this job could be for you! With the advent of the COVID pandemic, the existing teams have been working in new and innovative ways despite the challenges.

The Mental Health Support Teams in Ealing are based within the Ealing Primary Centre and work very closely with other community-based Tier 2 CYP mental health services and our Counselling Partners who work in many of our schools. They are also have good working relationships with Tier 3 CAMHS colleagues, the majority of whom are based at the Trust Headquarters in Southall.
