There really has never been a more exciting time to join us; University Hospitals Bristol NHS Foundation Trust and Weston Area Health NHS Trust have merged together to become one organisation. Our newly merged Trust has a combined workforce of over 13,000 staff, aiming to deliver exceptional local services for local people and specialist services across the South West and beyond. Together, we form one of the largest NHS trusts in the country.

Do you fancy a new challenge in your nursing career? Are you looking for a role that allows you to make a real difference to patients? If so, we are looking to recruit an enthusiastic registered nurse to join our team. We have a range of exciting opportunities for newly qualified and experienced nurses within our Medical and Surgery directorate.

Situated in the seaside town of Weston Super Mare, Weston General Hospital is a sought-after place to both live and work. We are proud of the fact that we are the smallest acute Trust in the UK and as a result you will be an integral part of a friendly and welcoming team; a team keen to see you flourish. There have been many changes to our senior management team recently and we now have a new vision for Weston. If you want a new start, there couldn’t be a better time to join us on the journey to provide excellent care for people living in and around Weston.

Both our Medicine and Urgent Care Directorate and Surgery Directorate at Weston General hospital are passionate about getting it right for patients and their families. We believe that by investing in our staff, they will deliver better care to our patients and help create and contribute to a work environment that makes it fun to come to work. We are an extremely friendly, forward thinking, and progressive division who are looking to appoint enthusiastic, motivated and dynamic Band 5 Registered Nurses who are seeking to start or progress their career.

The acute clinical and compassionate leadership skills you will gain from working within any of these specialities will be highly advantageous for individuals aspiring to become a Band 6, Clinical Nurse Specialist or Advanced Clinical Practitioner in the future. In order to achieve the latter you will be supported by a preceptorship programme (if applicable), as well as Senior Sister, Clinical Nurse Specialists, Practice Development Nurse and the Matron. The breadth and depth of specialities would also be an ideal platform for individuals with aspirations of starting a career within a critical care environment.

With services from the neonatal intensive care unit to care of the elderly, we provide care to the people of Bristol, Weston and the south west from the very beginning of life to its later stages.

Our staff are the lifeblood of our Trust. They provide general diagnostic, medical and surgical services to the populations of central Bristol, south Bristol and north Somerset. These services are delivered from our Bristol city centre campus and Weston General Hospital with some services delivered in community settings such as South Bristol Community Hospital.

We also provide specialist services such as children's services, cardiac and cancer services, and other smaller specialist services that are nationally commissioned, to a wider population through the south west and beyond.

We offer careers that provide different challenges every day. Through supported development, on-the-job training and continued education, we encourage all of our staff to strive higher and achieve their potential. Become a part of something bigger by using your skills to help us keep UHBW operating as a centre of medical excellence, providing excellent care and service to the hundreds of patients who pass through our hospitals every day.
