Rosewood Free School is an all age special school in Southampton which caters for pupils with Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD), Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD) with associated physical difficulties, complete medical needs and life limiting conditions.

We are now looking to recruit a Post 19 Registerd Nurse for our Post 19 Provision.

The main purpose of this role is to be responsible for overseeing the provision of health care for young adults aged 19 years to 25 years with PMLD and SLD. The post holder will be responsible for the on-going assessment of care needs and the development, implementation and evaluation of programmes of care, providing skilled nursing care, advice and support.

The main duties and responsibilities will include:

• Overseeing the daily health needs of the young adults and liaise with care and education staff on all issues/information relating to a young adult’s medication and health management.

• Provide clinical interventions on a daily basis to meet the needs of the young adults, eg. gastrostomy care, deep suctioning, oxygen therapy.

• Be responsible for the initial assessment of care needs, the development, implementation and evaluation of programmes of care, appropriate to the physical, psychological and social needs of the young adults.

You will be an excellent nursing background and be able to communicate effectively with a wide range of health, education and social care professionals across professional boundaries.

This post is term-time only (39 weeks), 32.25 hours per week, 8.30 am to 4.00 pm Monday to Friday. Pro-rata salary for hours worked and term time only is £24,851 (FTE £33,250).
