About Priory Hospital North London :

The adolescent unit consists of 2 wards. Oak ward has 9 beds and Birch ward has 13 beds. The vast majority of our patients are funded by the NHS and referred from local NHS out-patient Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS). We also provide services for adolescents with OCD and private patients. We work with 12 to 17 year olds presenting with a wide range of mental health problems, but particular specialities are with self harm. Many of our young people have experienced earlier abuse and neglect and have attachment difficulties and emotional dysregulation.

We use a variety of different therapeutic approaches and in particular use Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT) which is an evidence based approach for use with self harm. We would expect you to be able to use DBT skills when working with the young people and we will provide regular training and supervision on-site for this.

We also have some young people with severe Obsessive Compulsive Disorder or Body Dysmorphic Disorder who are referred here for help. We will also provide training on-site for working with young people with these conditions.

Our working environment and culture are also exceptional. You will be part of a multidisciplinary team of doctors, psychiatrists, therapists and other health care specialists. We don’t just work together. We listen to each other, share ideas, explore new ways of doing things and actively pursue innovation and excellence is all that we do.
