Staff Nurse Outpatients - Gynaecology

Location – The Portland Hospital, 205-209 Great Portland St, London W1W 5AH

This is a part time role 37.5 hours per week Monday – Friday covering the hours of 7:45-15:45, 7:45- 15:45 and 7:45- 20:00 and Saturday 7:45- 13:45 , you will need to be flexible to work based in internal rotation.

The salary offered for this role is between £32,000 - £36,000 this will be dependent on experience + Benefits (pension, health cover, flexible benefits and excellent career development)

Job Description:

As the Staff Nurse within our gynae outpatient ward, you will be expected to provide continuous nursing care and support to patients that will include assessment of patients’ care needs and in conjunction with the consultants and the multidisciplinary team contribute to the development of  care plans, implementation and evaluation of these plans ensuring high standards of nursing care at all times. Assisting with running OPD clinics and with performing procedures you will be involved in the diagnostic procedures that aim to investigate patient symptoms and treat them where possible. These will mainly include gynaecological OPD procedures.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assist with the organization of OPD clinics, including Gynaecology Clinics –Colposcopy, Social gynaecology and obstetrics
  • Assist with the Gynaecology nurse-led clinics and carry out patient monitoring, investigations, procedures and treatments as required
  • Assist with organizing tests and appointments to meet patient’s needs
  • Proficient in colposcopy and hysteroscopy procedures and ensure safe use of colposcopy/hysteroscopy equipment
  • Engage in effective communication with patients, relatives and visitors and provide relevant information, support, empathy and reassurance in the delivery of high standard patient care.
  • Contribute to a supportive patient care  environment
  • Maintain effective communication the members of the gynaecology multidisciplinary team to ensure that appropriate information is shared and patient needs are met.
  • Ensures all documentation achieves the NMC, Legal and Company guidance for Record keeping
  • Maintain own professional development and mandatory training

Skills and Experience

  • Registered General Nurse- with previous experience current NMC PIN
  • Previous experience within the Gynae environment
  • Degree or Diploma in Nursing
  • Good knowledge of woman’s health, inclusive of Gynaecological outpatient procedures is essential
  • Evidence of any Gynaecological training courses
  • Phlebotomy and Cannulation training desirable
