This is an exciting opportunity to join the South Eastern Health and Social Care Trusts’ infection prevention and control (IPC) nursing team in Northern Ireland.

This IPC nursing team is now expanding to meet the growing needs of the service across the Trusts community, acute, prison health sector and provide outreach to independent care sector providers. You will have experience in working autonomously, ensuring that IPC practices are an integral part of patient care.

You will have opportunity to grow and develop a range of leadership skills managing a team and working with a wide range of stakeholders across all healthcare settings and work to reduce healthcare-associated infections. You will help develop and oversee the implementation to the Trust IPC strategy.

You will be at the forefront in developing new services and will be involved in decontamination and capital development initiatives. Leading a team in the delivery of high quality patient care and striving to make improvement across the organisation.

South Eastern Trust currently has positions available at Band 8A and Band 7:

Band 8A

  • Work with the Senior Manager Infection Prevention and Control to develop, plan and oversee the implementation of the Trust Infection Prevention & Control Strategy to reduce risk of healthcare-associated infection to patients, staff and visitors.
  • Manage and develop the Trust’s Infection Prevention & Control Nursing team
  • Plan and implement systems across the Trust appropriately to support the surveillance, investigation and prevention of healthcare-associated infection and to manage any outbreak, which could affect the delivery of services to patients.
  • Deputise for the Head of Infection Prevention & Control (IPC), in their absence.

Band 7

  • Work with the Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) Lead(s) to deliver a Trust-wide Infection Prevention & control Service. This will include the prevention, detection, monitoring, evaluation and surveillance of infections as part of the Trust IPC Strategy 2019-2022.
  • Work autonomously and as a team leader in the provision of expert infection prevention and control advice to a wide range of staff and in the implementation of initiatives to reduce healthcare –associated infection (HCAI).
