Band 7 CNS- Mental Health

Shift: 37.5 Hours Per Week, Monday to Friday,

A rare and exciting opportunity has arisen to recruit a dynamic, independent and confident Clinical Nurse Specialist in Mental health on a permanent contract.

This role of CNS is autonomous and will require knowledge and experience in assessing and supporting patients with complex physical and mental health needs.

You will be a source of mental health knowledge and expertise, providing support to staff in their day to day management of patients with acute psychological and mental health problems. Liaising with external mental health services will be a key part of the role to ensure the safe discharge or transfer of patients to local mental health services.

You will work alongside a Consultant Psychiatrist, the Trust Lead Nurse for Mental Health and a team of very experienced Clinical Psychologists within a supportive MDT. Patients are referred from Critical care, Transplant Unit and cardiothoracic and cardiology wards. The role will input mental health triage, risk assessment and intervention across multiple patient wards, including intensive care.  

High standards of patient-centred care and excellent communication skills are essential to achieve the best possible outcomes as well as for recovery.

Due to the strong commitment to evidence-based practice throughout the Trust, CPD is supported and staff are encouraged to be involved in audit, research and policy development and to attend and present at conferences where appropriate.
