Deputy Manager - Outpatients and Pre assessment

Outpatients has 8 consulting Rooms , Gynae examination , ENT specialised room, also three treatment rooms where local anaesthetic procedures are performed, this includes Carpal tunnel hand surgery, removal of lumps, cystoscopies, and any procedures which can be tolerated under local anaesthesia.

The work is very varied with different specialities in the consulting rooms, which makes the role very varied and specialised.

There are two Pre assessment rooms where patients are pre assessed prior to their booked operations, this involves insuring patients are safe to have their routine operations by completing a care records with the patient and getting the patients history, knowing with experience what drugs to stop prior to surgery.

  • Lead by example and be an ambassador for the Nuffield Health way of caring.
  • Recognise talent, nurture junior members of staff and mentor them to be the best nurses they can be.
  • Use clinical skills and an empathetic approach to meet each individual patient's need.
  • Be part of a multidisciplinary team and work with some of the best clinical talent around to experience new practices, equipment and facilities.
  • Provide day-to-day supervision, including clinical supervision of junior nursing staff and students.
  • Work scheduling and rotas; involvement in recruitment, induction and performance reviews, training, development and mentoring.


The Person

To succeed as a Deputy Manger you will;

  • Be NMC registered and be a qualified nurse.
  • Ideally have a qualification in teaching and assessment, together with some mentoring experience or a Level 2 or 3 management qualification.
  • Have experience of multi-specialty surgical procedures, plus further professional training and experience. Preferably, a qualification in a specialist area.
  • Have excellent clinical skills and experience in a mentoring role.
  • To have phlebotomy would be an added advantage.
  • Ideally to have phlebotomy skills.
  • To have the initiative to take on the role as doing the weekly rota for off duty.
