Our CQC Outstand hospital in Cambridge is seeking an Oncology Dietician to join their clinical team at the Nuffield Health hospital.

You will deliver a high quality Dietician service to our Oncology patients through clinical assessment and the planning, implementation and evaluation of treatment.

We are a well-established Oncology team and are passionate about ensuring excellence in clinical care, teaching, training and End of Life Care (EOLC). We've earned the Macmillan Quality Environment Mark (MQEM) and in October 2016 the Care Quality Commission (CQC) rated clinical service provision at The Nuffield Hospital Cambridge as 'outstanding'.

Our state of the art hospital, is central Cambridge's premium private hospital, boasting an Outstanding CQC score and offer a full range of medical and surgical specialties. With expertise in Cancer care and Cancer surgery, Orthopaedic surgery (including robotic surgery), Neurosurgery, Cardiology as well as specialist Paediatric services. Backed by the latest diagnostic imaging facilities including wide bore MRI and CT scanning, we offer immediate assessment and expert diagnosis.

Hospital facilities include 3 state of the art digits theatres, 36 beds, Daycase theatre/endoscopy suite, private consultation rooms, close monitoring units, Chemotherapy suite, On-site registered pharmacy, Diagnostic scanning unit and a Pathology laboratory.

Responsibilities:

  • Select appropriate assessment approaches, methods, techniques and equipment, in line with individual needs and characteristics, evidence of effectiveness, and resources available
  • To explain clearly to patients their own role, responsibilities and accountability, and the information that is needed from the assessment and who might have access, respecting peoples dignity, wishes and beliefs; involving them in shared decision making; and obtaining their consent
  • Prepare, conduct and monitor assessments in line with evidence based practice, and legislation, policies and procedures and/or established protocol/established theories and models
  • To monitor individuals during assessments and takes the appropriate action in relation to any significant changes or possible risks
  • To ensure accurate clinical records are maintained
  • Undertake discharge planning
  • Evaluate relevant information to plan the range and sequence of assessment required and determine the specific activities to be undertaken, the risks to be managed and the urgency with which assessments are needed
  • To evaluate assessment findings/results and takes appropriate action when there are issues
  • To consider and interpret all of information available using systematic processes of reasoning to reach a justifiable assessment, explaining the outcomes to those concerned
  • To determine and record diagnosis and treatment plans in accordance with professional guidelines
  • Identifies individuals whose needs fall outside protocols/pathways/models and makes referrals to the appropriate practitioners with the necessary degree of urgency
  • Keep up to date on current and new developments, theories and reading
  • Ensure all equipment is in good working order an escalate if otherwise
  • Provide input to policy and procedural changes within department
  • To participate in departmental projects

  • Registered practitioner -Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC)
  • British Dietetic Association membership (BDA)
