With over 5500 births per year Aneurin Bevan University Health Board in South East Wales offers scope in midwifery practice and exciting opportunities for development within its maternity services. Our midwives cover a wide geographical area and a diverse population. Women and families are the central focus for the care we offer, with choice and service user engagement a core element in any service developments.

We are able to offer women the full range of choice for place of birth, including our new purpose built Obstetric Led Unit and Alongside Midwifery Led Unit at the Grange University Hospital in Cwmbran, Free Standing Midwifery Led Units at Ystrad Mynach and Abergavenny, Midwifery Led Pods in Newport and Ebbw Vale and our homebirth service.

We demonstrate a firm commitment to leadership and engagement in national strategy and are drivers for change, with award winning examples of innovative change in the delivery of maternity care.

We are seeking an experienced midwife to join our senior midwifery team.

As a Consultant Midwife the post holder will be expected to promote positive birth for women in appropriate environments, leading a culture for high quality miery led care. A strong desire to offer choice and evidence based practice is essential, with a focus on listening to the experience of women and their families in order to ensure women remain the central focus for care. The post holder will work closely with the senior midwifery team and the wider multidisciplinary team to ensure joined up thinking and a shared vision.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.
