PRIMARY & COMMUNITY CARE NURSE

Aneurin Bevan University Health Board (ABUHB) is offering two training development posts for nurses wishing to gain experience in Primary Care. 

The post will suit  Band 5 Registered nurses with no previous Primary Care experience.

The post is a full-time permanent position.

The first 6 months will be based in an independent General Practice, located within ABUHB. The Practice will have been approved as suitable for training by the Aneurin Bevan Care Academy Team. Aneurin Bevan covers a large geographical area therefore the ability to travel and work within the area is essential to the role.

Should the post holder not secure a post within an independent General Practice during the first 6 months of employment, they will be offered a Band 5 nurse position within the Community Hospital setting.

In September 2021 post holders will be expected to undertake a module relating to Primary & Community Care delivered by Cardiff University.  

During the initial 6 month General Practice placement, the post holder will be released from practice to attend weekly clinical skills study days facilitated by the Aneurin Bevan Care Academy Team.

These clinical skills days include;

Cytology, childhood immunisations, infection control, wound management including doppler training and compression bandaging, travel immunisations, asthma/COPD, diabetes, hypertension and heart failure, mental health and dementia, contraception, medicines management, men's health, safeguarding, venesection.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.
