Registered Nurse vacancies for Critical Care

Caring, compassionate, enthusiastic, dedicated and highly skilled. These are just a few words that describe the Critical Care Nurses that work within ABUHB.

The directorate is looking for enthusiastic and motivated nurse who are keen to pursue a career within critical care nursing.

Band 5's, would you like to have six weeks supernumerary while you settle into the critical care setting? We offer for all staff at least eight study days within the first year of your career with us. This includes the MONITOR course and sessions which concentrate on assessment skills; scenarios and clinical supervision. We also offer all staff the Essentials in Critical Care course, a 40 credit, level 6 module with the University Of South Wales which is ten taught days over six months. This is fully funded by us.

In ABUHB we have an established Outreach service spanning back over the past 15 years. Until recently, that service was funded 9-5, five days a week. We now have the ability to extend this vital service including an exciting merger with the Resuscitation team to provide a 7-7, seven days a week, Outreach and Resuscitation service.

We have developed core competencies that along with the support of existing practitioners, will aid the transition of the critical care nurse into the outreach/resuscitation role. We take pride in our Outreach/Resus service which delivers the highest quality care to the acutely unwell patient.

The role also involves formal and informal teaching; including adult, paediatric and neonatal courses, support of ward based staff, audit, follow up and service improvement. We are dedicated to developing and supporting all our staff through education, training and clinical supervision.

The posts are based at our brand new hospital, The Grange University Hospital at Llanfrechfa, Cwmbran. The hospital provides complex specialist and critical care treatment, with a 24 hour acute assessment and Emergency Department.

Candidates are required to be flexible and reliable in their approach to work. In return the directorate will demonstrate a commitment to both personal and professional development to the successful candidate.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.
