Senior Staff Nurse – Imaging

Location: The Wellington Hospital, 8A Wellington Place, London NW8 9LE

This is a full-time role working 37.5hrs per week – Shift patterns short shifts mainly: 9-5pm 12-8pm, required to cover on-call shift at least once per month Mon – Fri 8pm -8am and Sat and Sun 8am – 8am. 

The salary for this role is between £38K - £43K dependent on experience plus 9% enhancement + Benefits (pension, health cover, flexible benefits and excellent career development)

About the Role

The Senior Staff Nurse based in the Imagining department will provide & maintain a comprehensive nursing service to the department, ensuring quality services are provided to patients, visitors & consultant users.

To maintaining high standards of care to ensure patient safety & to develop action plans to address shortfalls and care of the patient, monitoring their condition & providing both physical & psychological support during diagnostic & interventional procedures

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate excellent clinical practice at all times, to be accountable for own actions & comply with Hospital Policies
  • Provide professional advice to radiographic staff, radiology department assistants & foster collaborative partnerships with other disciplines/departments.
  • Comply with legislative and hospital policies and procedure, ensuring patient safety
  • Undertake nursing procedures as necessary, using resources efficiently & effectively.
  • Communicate effectively with patients & their relatives, ensuring accurate & seamless information is conveyed & documented.
  • Assist in the maintenance & monitoring of agreed standards, ensuring any shortfall is brought to the attention of the Imaging Manager & Sister
  • Ensure that all quality initiatives within the nursing & radiographic environment are adhered to & that the highest standards of care are maintained at all times.

Skills & Experience

  • NMC Registered Nurse
  • Extensive post qualification experience including previous experience in Interventional Radiology nursing
  • Teaching qualification
  • Knowledge of relevant hospital policies and procedures
  • Evidence of professional development since registration
  • Health and Safety training
  • Basic understanding of IRMER regulations
