Location: University College Hospital Private Care (HCA @ UCH) London

Hours: Full time 37.5 (4 days per week 8-6pm or potentially 9-7pm on occasion)

Salary: £33,000-£37,255 dependent on relevant experience & Skills + Benefits (pension, health cover, flexible benefits and excellent career development)

 

Fantastic opportunity for a Staff Nurse to join the Chemo Day Unit @ UCH Private Care

As Staff Nurse for our chemo day care unit you will be responsible for working in a supporting experienced nursing team to assess, plan, deliver and evaluate high standards of specialist care to ensure that patients are cared for in a safe, caring and comfortable environment. This will include meeting their medical, physical and emotional needs by effectively communicating with the patient and their families.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Participate in individual care needs of patients and develop appropriate care plans to implement and evaluate
  • Monitor patient care and interventions appropriately
  • Recognise deterioration in patients’ condition at an early stage, (including neutropenic patients) Refer to the senior nurse and medical team appropriately
  • Initiate appropriate actions to isolate patients when required
  • Liaise with multi-disciplinary team (MDT)
  • Maintain ward area in stocked items, equipment and waste to maintain a clean and safe environment

Skills & Experience

  • NMC Registered nurse, with post qualification
  • NHS or Private experience
  • Chemo Trained

The daycare unit at UCH is situated on the 5th floor of University College Hospital Macmillan Cancer Centre. The centre specialises mainly in malignant haematology and stem cell transplantation and is one of only a few centres in the UK to have JACIE accreditation for its transplant service.  There is also some Oncology, mainly sarcoma and brain tumours. Patients receive a range of treatments- chemotherapy, immunotherapies, and supportive treatments such as blood transfusions, venesections and bisphosphonates

 

Working in partnership with University College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, HCA UK at University College Hospital (HCA at UCH) is a dedicated private facility offering expert care for patients with cancer and blood disorders. Our team of experienced doctors and nurses provide the highest quality of personalised care, at all stages of treatment for our patients.

 

Rated ‘Outstanding’ by CQC, we are continually investing in our facilities to make sure that our patients have access to the latest treatments and technology. We offer specialist care for solid tumour and blood cancer and we are a JACIE accredited bone marrow and stem cell transplant centre. We treat patients for CAR T-cell therapy, making us one of the few JACIE accredited private providers in the UK to offer this ground-breaking therapy.

 

We continue to grow our service and in 2021 our private inpatient unit will move to the new UCLH state-of-the-art haematology hospital where the floors have been designed to the highest possible specification, taking into account the acute medical needs of haematology patients.

 

These are exciting times and we are looking for highly motivated staff nurses to join our haematology team and help us to continue to deliver and build upon excellence in care and service delivery. We offer low nurse to patient ratio where you will have the opportunity to deliver exceptional care.
