Location: University College Hospital Private Care (HCA @ UCH)  

Hours: Full time 37.5 hrs pw (Mon-Fri) 

Salary: £48,101-£53,445 dependent on relevant experience & Skills + Benefits (pension, health cover, flexible benefits and excellent career development)

Brilliant opportunity for a Clinical Nurse Specialist to take the next step in their career as a Lead working alongside a team of Oncology and Haematology Clinical Nurse Specialists in a leadership role.  

A team of 6 Clinical Nurse Specialists will report to the Lead CNS as first line management. The post holder will also work autonomously as a Clinical Nurse Specialist managing a caseload of patients. 

The post holder will lead the CNS contribution to service development and improvement and will lead specific developments, management and promotion of services, ensuring the delivery of high quality care. The post holder will expand and develop existing and new networks to ensure the dissemination of best practice. 

The post holder will be an educational resource and participate in the continuing education of the multi-professional health care team in all aspects of their specific specialities. They will provide specialist advice, guidance and support at an advanced level of knowledge to patients, carers and healthcare professionals.

Skills & Experience 

  • Registered Nurse-NMC Registration 
  • Recognised teaching or mentorship qualification 
  • Post registration qualification in Haematology / Oncology 
  • Evidence of continued professional development 
  • Advanced Communications Skills Training or working towards 
  • Master’s degree or working towards-Desirable 
  • Extensive experience as a CNS in Oncology / Haematology
  • Extensive relevant post registration experience, at Band 7 or above, in Haematology /Oncology 
  • Experience of teaching 
  • Leadership and management experience 
  • Clinical expertise within the specialism to enable autonomous practice.  
  • Knowledge of cancer, its treatments and associated side effects generally
