Occupational Health Advisor

Prudhoe, Northumberland

Looking for an occupational health position where you can make a difference within the health and hygiene FMCG industry? Our vacancy of an Occupational Health Advisor is at our large tissue manufacturing site in Prudhoe, Northumberland where we produce household tissue products such as Cushelle and Velvet.  It employs approximately 400 employees- a mix of shift and office-based employees. So why not join us!

About the Role

Reporting to the HR Manager you will work on a full-time permanent basis (Monday to Friday) to promote and manage the health and wellbeing of all employees.

What You Will Do

Your main responsibilities will be:

  • To manage the Occupational Health function to pro-actively drive preventative measures in managing employee health and wellbeing, promoting at all times health and work ability
  • Design, develop and deliver new health promotion initiatives working with all colleagues across the site
  • Provide advice and support to employees on health issues as required and guide the company on progress and adaptations as appropriate within the workplace
  • Co-ordinate pre-employment health screening
  • Carry out Health surveillance and other health checks following company guidelines and legislation
  • Working collaboratively with HR and production and using absence level data, to advise on sickness absence and help support initiatives to manage absence levels
  • To work in conjunction with the H&S Leader in assessing risks to health and providing advice on managing these risks
  • Ensure all confidential medical records are maintained and kept safe, in accordance with GDPR guidelines.

Who You Are

  • Registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC)
  • Hold an Occupational Health Qualification at a minimum Diploma level with proven post qualification experience, ideally (though not essential) in an industrial or manufacturing environment
  • IT literate – competent in use of MS Office including Word and Excel
  • Respectful of confidentiality and have knowledge of GDPR guidelines
  • Proactive and confident to put your own ideas and proposals forward and make decisions to help develop the overall service and impact of the Occupational Health function
  • Effective communication skills – strong listening and empathetic skills as well as the ability to influence and engage with others
  • Can work in an environment of change
  • Willing to undertake further related training as required.
