School Nurse

Term time only (36 weeks per year) 40 hours per week on average working 2-3 shifts per week

Equivalent to RGN Band 6–7, pro rata

Harrow School is situated in Harrow on the Hill, northwest London, and is one of the best-known schools in the world. Around 830 boys study at Harrow and live in the School’s 12 boarding houses. Employees particularly value the School’s beautiful green estate, the positive working environment, and good relationships with their colleagues.

Harrow School is recruiting a registered nurse (RGN band 6–7) to join its existing team. The Harrow School Medical Centre team provides a full time comprehensive healthcare service for the pupils and employees of the School. The role is to be responsible for the delivery of basic assessment and treatment of minor illness and injuries to the Medical Centre patients, primarily pupils and resident staff. Supported by the Nurse Manager and School doctors in the Medical Centre, the Nurse will deliver care within the boundaries of the role, focusing on supporting the patients to be healthy, the monitoring of long-term conditions, health prevention and screening activities, and supporting the delivery of policies.

This role would suit a candidate who is confident in working autonomously and who enjoys working with children. They may have experience of first aid, A&E or sports injuries or may have held a position as a practice nurse. The successful candidate would welcome the flexibility to work their hours as 2-3 long shifts per week including overnight shifts, leaving the rest of their week free.

Benefits include free lunches for full time staff, automatic enrolment in the School’s pension scheme, use of the School’s sports facilities and subsidised membership of the tennis, golf, angling and social clubs.

Closing date: Friday 21 May 2021.

The School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and all successful applicants must be willing to undergo child protection screening appropriate to the post including checks with any past employer and the Disclosure and Barring Service. Harrow School is an equal opportunities employer.
