The opportunity

The role of an Oncology Nurse is to provide care for cancer patients receiving chemotherapy or one of the new treatments (e.g. immunotherapies) and is a challenging and rewarding field of nursing.

With our consultant / nurse-led service, you will be working directly with some of the best clinical talent around, gaining experience with new practices, equipment and facilities. Some of the key duties, but not limited too are;

  • Administering systemic anti-cancer therapy
  • Assisting consultants during Clinics
  • Providing care for Acute Oncological emergencies.
  • You'll interact with practitioners from other departments because you understand the importance of continuity in patient care.

To succeed as a SACT Oncology Nurse you will need:

  • Experience of Oncology Nursing
  • To have or be working towards a SACT Qualification
  • To work flexible hours to suit the department Monday to Friday
  • To be an excellent communicator and team worker - flexible and motivated.
  • Have the ability to fully assess each patient's needs and provide tailored treatment plan and care.

​Qualifications

  • RGN or equivalent qualification (we have not been RGN for years now RN)
  • Has or working towards a university accredited SACT course and experience

About our department


This post will support the Oncology patients through their cancer journey. Our Macmillan adopted unit can accommodate 10 day treatment patients. The unit treats a variety of cancers including Breast, Colorectal, Gynae, Pancreatic, Upper GI cancers and urological. You will work within a team of skilled chemotherapy nurses as well as part of a Multi-disciplinary team ensuring that our patients are treated with the best possible care.

Salary - £ 25/hour
Location - Oxford

Hours - Bank contract
