Doccla Research Nurse / Lead Nurse

This is a unique opportunity to work for an innovative health technology start-up that specialises in Remote Patient Monitoring.

About us

At Doccla, we are helping to improve patient care by building virtual hospital wards with our NHS partners. Our aim is to reduce pressures on hospital beds by taking patients out of hospital and monitoring them from their homes using the latest internet-connected devices.

A key part of our work is conducting a large-scale Proof of Concept study with Northampton General Hospital. The observational study is designed to investigate the benefits and practicalities of remote monitoring. We are also developing a new service where we provide the clinical expertise needed to monitor patients remotely.

About the job

We are looking for a registered nurse to help run our Proof of Concept study and help us to develop and run our new remote monitoring service. The position is based at Northampton General Hospital under an NHS honorary contract during regular office hours. The position is a (minimum) 6-month contract, and we will be offering a competitive remuneration package to the right candidate.

Who are we looking for?

We are looking for a pragmatic, problem solver to join our dynamic organisation. The applicant should be interested in health innovation and be passionate about patient-centred care and service improvement. Above all, we are looking for someone who has a positive mindset and a can-do attitude, who can lead and motivate a team.

Responsibilities

  • Work with the research nurses at Northampton General Hospital to recruit participants for the study. This may involve creating schedules and managing daily staff assignments.
  • Identifying suitable patients and undertaking the informed consent process.
  • Fit the monitoring devices and educate patients on how and when to use them.
  • Monitor the progress and compliance of the participants in the study and, where necessary, troubleshoot technical issues that occur.
  • Survey participants, document data and follow the research protocol of the study.
  • Be an ambassador for Doccla when dealing with patients, healthcare professionals and prospective customers.
  • Take on responsibilities outside the day-to-day research work during slow recruitment periods (such as helping us to design clinical pathways for remote monitoring patients and undertaking risk assessments).
  • Be an ambassador for Doccla when dealing with patients, healthcare professionals and prospective customers.

Qualifications and Experience

Applicants must:

  • be a Registered Nurse with an active NMC pin;
  • have the right to work in the UK;
  • be able to read, write and speak English fluently;
  • be able to provide examples of excellence in their work, wherever the setting (including academic and clinical); and
  • have solid technology acumen.

Ideally, applicants will also have:

  • experience of managing a team;
  • some knowledge and experience of remote patient monitoring technologies; and
  • some experience of conducting research (including clinical audits).

Salary

£30,000 - £50,000 per annum, depending on experience.
