Bedford Modern School is an HMC Independent Co-educational Day School located on the outskirts of Bedford. Our facilities are excellent and include a separate Junior School, dedicated Sixth Form building and extensive sports facilities. We offer a premium education, with a wide and varied curriculum, where the intellectual needs of each student is given priority.

We are looking to appoint an experienced and suitably qualified Senior Nurse to join our team in providing a high standard of service within NMC guidelines to the whole school community.

This will include providing immediate medical treatment, managing pupils with chronic illness, maintaining first aid equipment, organising and running drop-in clinics, co-ordinating preventative health measures, health education initiatives, pastoral support, management and administration tasks related to the nursing department, and liaison with external providers as appropriate.

Applicants must be qualified to Registered Nurse Level 1 standard, have post-registration experience in child or young people nursing, knowledge of safeguarding children in education, experience of managing staff and hold, or be prepared to obtain, a HSE approved First Aid at Work Certificate.

The successful candidate will have a genuine interest in delivering positive outcomes for young people, possess excellent communication, counselling and listening skills, have the ability to adapt quickly to changing situations and work collaboratively as part of a busy team.

This position is for 37 hours per week, over five days, Monday to Friday, term-time plus three weeks in the school holidays. The successful candidate will also be expected to support Saturday sporting fixtures during the autumn and spring terms on a rotational basis with other nursing staff.
