Job Details

We are looking for an experienced Paediatric Nurse to provide high quality advice and support to PHL services, working independently via remote telephone triage and assessment, you will be accountable for delivering safe, clinical decision-making and expert care to a high standard. Acting within your professional boundaries, your duties will include all (or part) of the patient journey including initial history taking; remote clinical assessment; diagnosis; care planning and treatment; prescribing medication and evaluation of their care.

           Paediatric Nurse Responsibilities

  • Assess undifferentiated patients between the ages of 0-18 with a range of acute, non-acute and chronic medical conditions. Take history, make appropriate physical examinations (if face to face), formulate differential diagnoses and carry through management treatment plans using prescribing or PGD’s when working in a clinic or home visit environment.
  • Formulate a management plan for the patient, where appropriate consider remote pre-scribing. And/or to use other sources of healthcare professionals (such as GP or Pharmacists) to if required to support diagnosis or next course of action
  • Operate in an environment where communication skills are well developed. These will include dealing with patients where diagnostic, listening, empathetic and reassurance skills are required
  • Undertake effective multidisciplinary liaison across the primary/secondary care interface and PHL Clinical and Operational Team.
  • Paediatric Nurse Key Skills and Experience:
    • Registered with NMC / HCPC
    • 3 years’ experience working in a paediatric based setting and remote clinical assessment.
    • At least 5 years year’s post qualified
    • You must be competent at taking a clinical history face to face and on the telephone, excluding red flags and undertake a physical examination of the patient for patients presenting with undifferentiated conditions.
