In case you haven't heard of Nuffield Health, Nuffield is a charity that has 31 (soon to be 32) hospitals, 113 wellbeing gyms, over 200 corporate partnerships and a number of Clinics around the UK.

Over the last year Nuffield have been heavily involved with the NHS Covid response and is continuing in 2021 and beyond.

As an organisation we turnover just under £1bn and re-invest a significant portions of our profits into free Social Flagship programmes that benefit the likes of children with cystic fibrosis or patients recovering from cancer.

Nuffield Health Cambridge Hospital, is a state of the art hospital, is central Cambridge's premium private hospital, boasting an Outstanding CQC rating and offers a full range of medical and surgical specialties. With expertise in Cancer care and Cancer surgery, Orthopaedic surgery (including robotic surgery), Neurosurgery, Cardiology as well as specialist Paediatric services. Backed by the latest diagnostic imaging facilities including wide bore MRI and CT scanning, we offer immediate assessment and expert diagnosis.

Hospital facilities include 3 state of the art digital theatres, 32 beds, Surgical Day Case theatre/endoscopy suite, Surgical Day PODs, private consultation rooms, close monitoring units, Chemotherapy suite, On-site registered pharmacy, Diagnostic scanning unit and a Pathology laboratory.


The opportunity

The challenge for the successful candidate will be to maintain the existing business; whilst identifying opportunities for growth through the development of strong relationships in the local market, working closely with our consultant colleagues to jointly develop the services Nuffield Health needs. NHS contracting is also an increasingly important factor for the Hospital. We are seeking an inspirational business leader - an individual who will enhance what we already do well.

The successful candidate must have the capability to manage the day to day hospital operation and grow our market share. Managing diverse relationships is a critical success factor of this role - working with the Hospital team, consultants, GP's, the NHS and other external bodies to provide the best care possible to patients.

As Hospital Director, not only will you be the Registered Manager, you will be the person ultimately accountable for ensuring your business is well-led, managing the delivery of both the day to day and strategic operations through diverse teams. Communicating a future focused vision, this role also has responsibility for all aspects of the commercial mix and financial results to meet budgetary requirements whilst never losing site of the fact that commercial gain can never come before clinical and patient needs. You will work closely with your consultant colleagues to jointly develop the services and quality. NHS contracting is also an important factor for the Hospital. Additionally, the ability to offer integrated pathways to preventative health through the
Nuffield Health Group offering will offer you a unique opportunity to patients

The person

To make the necessary level of impact this role requires, you will need a proven track record within a change-led organisation and be capable of ensuring the highest level of patient care and business management. Your previous leadership experience will be at a senior level where you have managed a P&L, preferably in a healthcare setting or a regulatory environment where you
understand the complexities and dynamics of a health and wellbeing market. You will have managed & lead large teams and have an impressive track record in delivering business growth demonstrated through your entrepreneurial spirit. Key to success will be your ability to engage and build mutually beneficial relationships with medical professionals, consultants, GPs and Health Boards, partnering with them to provide growth opportunities for all.

As Registered Manager (as defined by the CQC - Care Quality Commission) you will be accountable for all regulated activity provided by the hospital and hospital staff. You are required to be a 'fit and proper person' as defined by the CQC to undertake this role and as such, you will be subject to the appropriate checks. You will ensure the hospital remains compliant with the
requirements of the CQC.
