About the Role

The Infection Prevention & Control (IPC) Specialist will develop, lead and manage an effective Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) strategy to reduce the incidence of infection and avoidable harms, and to support continuous improvement in care and quality standards utilising the Kind Care Model.

As an expert resource in all matters relating to infection prevention and control, the IPC Specialist will provide specialist advice and guidance throughout the organisation to improve safety and quality of care.

They will develop an evidence based and effective IPC strategy to reduce the incidence of infection and avoidable harms across the company, update and develop IPC clinical policies, protocols, guidelines, audits and materials and develop and implement methods to facilitate the sharing of IPC knowledge and best practice.

The IPC Specialist will identify the learning and development needs of staff and ensure there is an effective IPC training framework in place to provide staff at all levels with the necessary skills, knowledge and competencies. They will investigate and conduct root cause analysis of infection outbreaks and serious infection incidents to support learning and prevent recurrence, analyse and assess infection control risks and introduce measures to support the prevention of infection outbreaks in the care homes.

They will keep updated via external networks on sector developments and innovation to ensure HC-One remains at the forefront of clinical excellence in IPC practice.

About You

You are a Registered nurse, ideally degree qualified in a health & social care related area, with a Diploma/qualification in infection prevention and control and evidence of further professional development and updating of clinical skills in relation to IPC.

You have a thorough understanding of UK regulatory requirements including the Health and Social Care Act: Code of Practice for health and adult social care on the prevention and control of infections and related guidance.

As an established clinical leader with experience of working in a senior IPC role, you have strong influencing skills, the ability to manage change and have excellent analytical skills including the ability to critically evaluate complex IPC evidence and apply this in a care home environment.

You have a strong focus on customer care, and are a confident communicator who creates professional and credible relationships at all levels, working collaboratively to build effective working relationships both internally and externally.

This role is flexible on location, the ability to travel across the UK and a full UK driving licence is required.
