Would you like to become part of a crucial investment in our Mental Health Liaison Service based at Worcestershire Royal Hospital and Alexandra Hospital, Redditch?

We are looking to recruit dynamic and enthusiastic Band 6 Mental Health Practitioners to join our Mental Liaison Service as we expand to provide a 24 hour response to our A&E departments. The  Mental Health Liaison Service offers a comprehensive range of mental health specialties so that all individuals of any age with a suspected or actual mental health problem within the general hospital can be assessed, treated, signposted or referred appropriately regardless of presenting complaint, time of presentation or severity of condition.

Day to day elements of the role will include:

  • Undertaking comprehensive mental health assessments and risk assessments
  • Developing effective risk management plans
  • Providing brief interventions and appropriately signposting onward referrals for individuals who come through the range of services within the general hospital
  • Supporting people to receive high quality care in a holistic and person centred way
  • Effective interfacing between teams, other mental health services and agencies such as the Police, Ambulance service and the local authority

The successful candidate in this role will be:

  • A registered mental health professional with experience of assessing and supporting individuals of any age including; children and young people, working age or older adults
  • Capable of completing complex psychosocial assessments including; mental state examination, risk assessment and crisis interventions, being accountable for decisions and actions.
  • Able to consider all of the available information when assessing a patient in order to make and justify plans made in relation to that patient.
  • Capable of communicating complex  information accurately both verbally and in written form
  • Able to actively and creatively engage patients and carers
  • A self-reliant, resilient person able to make and carry out decisions

As part of the Mental Health Liaison Service you can expect professional support and development in this exciting and challenging area of work. You will be joining a friendly and supportive team and will receive regular management and clinical supervision and have opportunities to engage in CPD. As a valued member of the liaison team you will be fully involved in all service developments and given opportunities to support quality improvement.

Within this specific role we will offer comprehensive induction package including;

  • An individualized super nummary induction period, based on your existing skills and experience, ranging from 2-4 weeks.
  • Specialist clinical experience days with a variety of teams including; CAMHS, Perinatal, Crisis Team, Home Treatment, Older Adults and Alcohol Liaison.
  • Weekly supervision with a Band 7 Clinical Lead to tailor your induction experience to meet your training needs.
