Working pattern:37.5 hours per week, Monday - Saturday. Hours to be worked flexibly to meet the needs of the service. (Saturday working is paid at time and a half)

About the role

We’re looking for a Clinical Nurse Manager to join the BPAS Merseyside Unit. As the Clinical Nurse Manager you will manage the clinical areas in a professional manner to ensure high standards of client care and safety. You will also monitor unit activity to ensure capacity and efficiency is maintained.

BPAS Merseyside is a large and busy unit that offers a range of reproductive health services. As a clinical nurse manager you will lead and mentor a team of clinicians to deliver high standards of client care. This is a varied and fast paced role that involves routinely working clinically in all areas of the unit including the operating department.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the ward and operating departments to carry out their roles and responsibilities, ensuring that standards are maintained.
  • Oversee the work of all staff in the clinical team to deliver a high professional standard of client care in accordance with NMC/GMC Guidelines for Professional Practice, delegating responsibilities as appropriate.
  • Participate in the recruitment process for new clinical staff, monitor employee performance and performance manage staff when necessary.
  • Undertake clinical audits and record, report, initiate and participate in investigation processes.
  • Complete documentation relating to the provision of client care.

About You

You will be a Registered Adult Nurse Level 1 or Midwife that is looking to progress within a clinical management role. You will have willingness to undertake training to enable you to work within all areas of the unit including theatre. You'll have proven experience of team management including selection, recruitment, sickness and performance management.

We are also looking for

  • Knowledge of the NMC/HPC/GMC codes of conduct, as well as Clinical Governance and the Health and Social Care Act.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills both written and verbal and be able to communicate at all levels of a unit.
  • Leadership and motivational skills, with a positive attitude towards change.
  • Able to work under pressure and be able to use own initiative to solve problems quickly and effectively.
  • Willing to travel to other sites as necessary and work additional hours when needed.
