At the Nuffield Health North Staffordshire Hospital we're recognised for our expert clinical care, expertise and friendly atmosphere. Our excellent teamwork and commitment to training has created an innovative clinical environment. Our purpose-build hospital has 36 bedrooms, 3 theatres and 1 minor treatment facility and busy outpatient department. We also provide physiotherapy, pathology, CT, MRI and diagnostic imaging services. We're conveniently located in Clayton on the A519. We also provide free parking for staff.

The Deakin suit is a friendly, caring and supportive day case chemotherapy unit where we combine clinical excellence with high standard of care, using holistic approach to achieve the best possible outcomes. The unit treats a range of patients as day cases offering chemotherapy and supportive treatments, to patients with oncology and haematology malignancies and non-malignant haematological conditions. This is an excellent opportunity to join the team where the successful candidate can develop the skills and knowledge in cancer care, if the candidate does not have a recognised chemotherapy qualification full support will be given to undertake. The Role

This post will support the Oncology patients through their cancer journey, working with a range of clinical experts. Our unit treats a variety of cancers including Breast, Cervical, Ovarian, Pancreatic, GI cancers, Prostate and Haematology. You will work within a team of skilled chemotherapy nurses as well as part of a Multi-disciplinary team ensuring that our patients are treated with the best possible care.

As a Senior Staff Nurse in Oncology you will;

  • Lead by example and be an ambassador for the Nuffield Health way of caring.
  • Recognise talent, nurture junior members of staff and mentor them to be the best nurses they can be.
  • Deliver high quality holistic care to our cancer patients
  • Use clinical skills and an empathetic approach to meet each individual patient's need.
  • Be part of a multidisciplinary team and work with some of the best clinical talent around to experience new practices, equipment and facilities.
  • Provide day-to-day supervision of junior staff or students.
  • Work scheduling and rotas; involvement in recruitment, induction and performance reviews, training, development and mentoring.


The Person

To succeed as a Senior Staff Nurse in Oncology you will;

  • Be NMC registered and be a qualified nurse.
  • Have oncology and or heamatology experience including the administration of Chemotherapy, cannulation and use of central venous access devices
  • Have or are working towards a recognised systemic antic cancer therapy administration course.

A Cancer qualification is desirable, but not essential. There are plenty of opportunities for staff to develop their knowledge and skills and you will be offered support for your on-going professional development.
