Job Details

Are you an enthusiastic, innovative and ambitious Registered General Nurse with current or pending NMC Registration, awareness of today’s professional nursing issues and a real desire to develop professionally and personally? Then make the move to Frimley Health NHS Foundation Trust as a Band 5 Outpatients Staff Nurse and see your career flourish in a brand new state-of-the-art hospital.

About us

There really has never been a better time to join the Trust. We’re opening a brand new hospital in Ascot this winter which will mark a new chapter for both the communities we serve and the people that will work here. A dedicated, state-of-the-art facility using the latest technology to deliver outstanding services, Heatherwood Hospital will specialise in planned, non-emergency operations. It will also have six operating theatres, 48 inpatient beds and 22 day-case cubicles and provide operations, diagnostics and outpatient care to NHS and private patients alike. This is your chance to get in at the start of what promises to be a truly exciting journey.

About the role

Part of a friendly team of nurses, health care assistants and care assistants, you’ll be responsible for the assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating nursing care, often with minimal supervision. We’ll also rely on you to organise and deploy staff to meet patient’s needs and co-ordinate the team/ward in the absence of the team leader or senior sister. Assisting in teaching programmes for student nurses/new staff and newly qualified nurses will be an important aspect of the role too, as will participating in ongoing clinical supervision. And, when it comes to promoting good working relationships and supporting the ward manager to achieve high morale within the team or assist in the auditing of patient care and service delivery, again we’ll count on you, in a role that’s all about ensuring the highest standards of patient care.

About you

To succeed, you’ll need to be a RGN with sound knowledge of infection control standards and how to promote these within a ward environment. Experience of caring for elderly patients with dementia or managing those with chronic medical conditions would be useful too. More important though is your self-motivation and initiative, plus the ability to train and supervise junior staff and manage a team in the absence of a team leader. Comfortable prioritising the workload of yourself and others in order to meet deadlines, you work well within a team, have the interpersonal skills it takes to manage difficult/stressful situations and are adaptable when dealing with change within the working environment.

The rewards

Join us, and you’ll be in the ideal setting to deliver excellent care and get more from your career, not least as we’re implementing new patient pathways and ways of working, thus freeing up more time for our people to focus on what they do best. The benefits on offer are brilliant too, and include flexible working, compassionate leave, a staff gym, onsite nurseries and restaurants, staff accommodation and a range of wellbeing programmes. Put simply, we can provide you with everything you need, in an open, supportive culture where the focus on learning and development will empower you to excel, develop and progress.
