An exciting and challenging opportunities has arisen within the newly established Emergency Department (ED) at the Grange University Hospital (GUH). The ED offers nurses a unique environment to gain an advanced knowledge and skills base. You will encounter a multitude of acute patient presentations; as an ED nurse your assessment skills are a key component of your knowledge base, fundamental to your developing practice and essential to patient safety.

The Grange University Hospital has recently opened in November 2020 and deals with all major emergencies and treats and cares for those needing complex, specialist or critical care. It includes a 24-hour Emergency Department and Assessment Unit dealing with emergencies and resuscitation cases and has a broad range of diagnostic services, operating theatres, and a consultant-led obstetric unit. This is an excellent time to join the Health Board. The Clinical Futures model is extending Aneurin Bevan University Health Board’s successful implementation of its Care Closer to Home initiatives, strengthening and promoting its services in the community as well as centralising care of the most critically ill patients in the brand new state-of-the art Grange University Hospital.

You will be supported by senior nurses and your continuous learning and development will be facilitated by a highly motivated team. All staff have personal mentors and a competency based development plan. Newly qualified nurses will be supported to complete the Journey of Excellence (JoE) professional development Programme aligned to the learning and development opportunities offered within the Health Board.

We care for our patients 7 days a week, 24 hours a day and can consider a number working patterns to support work life balance of our staff. Hours of work could include twilight shifts and school hours. A degree of flexibility would be required to meet the needs of the service.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.
