Lead Clinical Nurse Specialist-Breast

Location: The Harley Street Clinic-London (part of HCA Healthcare UK) 

Hours: 37.5hrs pw- (Mon-Fri)

We are looking for an enthusiastic and committed professional who is already an experienced Clinical nurse specialist working with breast cancer patients to join the team as Lead CNS 

This is a senior nursing post with responsibility for both strategic and operational management of breast care nursing services. The postholder will lead on breast cancer nursing services, manage the breast care team and play a leading role in the HCA strategy for improving cancer care and patient experience. 

 

 

 

The Lead CNS will act as a Keyworker for a clinical caseload of breast patients and incorporates the responsibilities of the key worker role, working to coordinate care and provide easy access for on-going support for patients, in all clinical areas within the Trust and at home by telephone. 

Duties & Responsibilities 

  • Maintain a clinical caseload within the field of breast care nursing and provide support to the oncology nurse specialist in order to maintain clinical credibility 
  • Work within The Harley Street & other facility clinical nurse specialists to provide expert clinical advice to the healthcare team taking into account all aspects of Clinical Governance. 
  • Promote and develop the use of evidence based practice to improve the outcomes of patient care by enabling people to access, identify, appraise and interpret information to meet their needs 
  • Provide specialist advice, guidance and support at an advanced level of knowledge to patients, carers and healthcare professionals. 
  • Be an educational resource and participate in the continuing education of the multi-professional health care team in all aspects of their specific specialities. 
  • Participate in and initiate clinical audit undertaken in relation to specific needs and the ongoing service development. 
  • Expand and develop existing and new networks to ensure the dissemination of best practice across The Harley Street Clinic & HCA, and nationally for patients with oncology needs 
  • Attends MDT meetings and ensure all newly diagnosed patients are discussed. 
  • Responsible for the leadership and line management of the Breast Clinical Nurse specialist team. 

Skills & Experience 

  • NMC registered Nurse 
  • Recognised teaching or mentorship qualification 
  • Post registration qualification in Breast /Oncology relevant to specialty 
  • Evidence of continued professional development 
  • Level 2 psychological skills training as per recognised course or working towards 
  • Post Registration Qualification relevant to the role. 
  • Extensive relevant post registration experience, at Band 7 or above, in cancer/breast care 
  • Master’s degree or working towards-Desirable 
  • Knowledge of relevant national cancer policies and procedures 
  • Good verbal and non-verbal communication skills​
