Overlooking Wimbledon Common, the school is situated in one of the most attractive parts of south-east England and benefits from exceptional grounds and facilities.

Key Responsibilities

  • The provision of a clinically effective, high-quality service of nursing care, emergency care and first aid for pupils, staff and visitors in the event of their being taken ill or having an accident on site
  • The smooth running of the medical and wellbeing centre in line with recommended best practice and in accordance with the Nursing and Midwifery council
  • Compliance with school policies and adherence to the code of confidentiality

Person Specification

This is an opportunity for a highly able and enthusiastic person to lead the successful transition of the medical centre into the medical and wellbeing centre. The ideal candidate will be a currently registered nurse, with extensive nursing experience, working in a hospital (A&E department or minor injuries unit, ideally), a school, a welfare office or a doctor’s surgery, or similar, and will ideally have either paramedic qualifications or experience of working with ambulance crews.

The ideal candidate will also:

  • Hold a current first aid certificate (HSE recognised)
  • Have a strong understanding of common mental health conditions, particularly those regularly seen in adolescents and children, with the ability to recognise and support as appropriate
  • Have the ability to build strong working relationships at a variety of levels
  • Be a confident, assured communicator at all levels
  • Be a good team player and able to work collaboratively
  • Be empathetic, kind and an excellent listener
  • Be well organised and able to prioritise tasks
  • Be creative and innovative, with the ability to work independently
  • Be comfortable working in a busy, reactive environment and remain calm under pressure
  • Have a personable and professional manner with a strong work ethic
  • Be able to demonstrate good IT skills and working knowledge of documents, spreadsheets and database systems

Further details can be found on our website via the apply button.

Closing date: 9am on Friday 19th November 2021.

Interview date: w/c 22nd November 2021.
