Band 5 and Band 6 critical care nurse – Newham Hospital

Working as part of the critical care team at Newham, in the heart of the lively East End of London, you’ll join a hospital with over 1,700 staff serving one of the most diverse populations in the UK. Our hospital hosts a dedicated stroke unit along with clinical support services. Over 500 patients come through our A&E doors every day, while our maternity unit sees over 6,000 births every year.

We are looking for talented Band 5 and Band 6 critical care nurses.

Band 5 Staff Nurse - Critical Care
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic, committed and motivated Registered Nurse to join our Intensive Care Team on a full time basis. Newham University Hospital’s Critical Care Unit is a 12 bedded Intensive Care Unit with 4 Level 3 beds and 8 Level 2 beds.

If you are committed to contributing to a team delivering an excellent Critical Care service, and serious about pursuing a career within critical care, you will find this a very rewarding job. You will be joining an enthusiastic, friendly and motivated multidisciplinary team.

You will need to have at least six months acute hospital experience since qualifying.

Band 6 ITU Full time
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Band 5 ITU nurse to step up into a full time band 6 post in the friendly 12 bedded Critical Care Unit at Newham .

You will have had 2 year’s experience at band 5 level, having undertaken the Critical Care course and will have experience in mentoring new starters and undertaken some projects and audits in a critical care unit Internal rotation into night shifts will be required.


You will be warmly welcomed into a vibrant friendly team, and have many opportunities to develop your skills. We have a strong commitment to staff development and service improvement, and many development opportunities. You will have an excellent induction and orientation programme to ensure you have all the skills necessary to care for the critically ill patient.

You will be responsible for the day to day management of your own patients ensuring they receive a high standard of patient care. You will be working closely with the multi-disciplinary team to ensure services are delivered in a timely efficient manner with patient safety being at the heart of all we do.
