We are looking for a dynamic individual who can ensure the consistent delivery of high quality patient centred care. The successful candidate will be expected to work clinically within the multidisciplinary team, maintain high standards of practice while supporting staff on a shift by shift basic and provide clinical leadership and decision making.

Successful candidates will have excellent communication and organisation skills. They must demonstrate current personal development; have a good understanding and involvement in improving patient safety, risk reduction and development of others and general support for peers, junior and senior colleagues.

Who are we? The Intensive Care Unit has one team providing a great service across two units. These units are dedicated in providing care for seriously ill patients from across a range of medical, surgical specialties and occasional paediatrics. Having two Intensive Care Units means we can separate the care we offer to our patients. In May 2020 we opened a new unit for COVID-19 patients which is one of the most sophisticated units in the region. The 14 beds in this new Intensive Care Unit is contained in a negative pressure environment, having sealed areas with carefully controlled ventilation that prevents contaminated air from escaping the room which maximises safety for staff and patients. We are privileged to have two units enabling us to separate the care we can offer to our patients.

Our Band 6 pathway includes: A supernumerary period (including induction) if you are new to the Trust. Progression through the nationally recognised Critical Care Steps Competency Framework An in-house Band 6 leadership development course Access to Quality Improvement training and project work

Your future career Choosing a career in Critical Care nursing will open many doors for you. We will invest in your future development and this could lead you into exciting roles within Critical Care such as a Senior Sister/Charge Nurse, Matron, Education Practice Facilitator or Advanced Critical Care Practitioner. We also work very closely with the Critical Care Outreach team and Follow Up Clinic where nurses can further develop their skills.

About the organisation

The Royal United Hospitals Bath NHS Foundation Trust provides acute treatment and care for a catchment population of around 500,000 people in Bath, North East Somerset and West Wiltshire.
