Wish you were here? So do we.

Do you want to join a vibrant, diverse and dedicated team?

Be part of something special by joining our team caring for older patients at NNUH.

Team NNUH has fantastic opportunities for experienced, dedicated Band 5 Registered Nurses in Older Peoples Medicine

Older Peoples Medicine is one of the largest specialities in the hospital and offers many varied pathways for career progression.   We offer a range of services across our four dedicated Older People’s Medicine wards including a short-stay ward, an ortho-medical ward, a ward specialising in dementia care and the UK’s first Older Peoples Emergency Department. We have a dedicated dementia support team, integrated specialist volunteers and a programme of stimulating activities and events helping to provide the best experience for our patients in hospital.

Our award winning teams provide compassionate, person-centred care for older people in hospital, working closely alongside multidisciplinary colleagues. We care for around 200 inpatients at any time across our services.

Our teams love the diagnostic challenge of working with older patients with complex needs and the benefit of sharing skills with clinical colleagues from other specialties. When joining Team OPM, you’ll have the opportunity to develop a broad understanding of the needs of older people, build experience of the wider healthcare system and take advantage of a variety of professional development opportunities.

There’s a range of exciting projects to get involved in as we further enhance our services for the future. We’re developing our frailty pathways, building on our Dementia Friends programme and investigating new ways of providing the best care for our patients through dedicated rapid assessment clinics. We’re also a major teaching and research hospital and are passionate about developing nursing educational pathways across the department.

NNUH was the first hospital in the UK to open a dedicated Older Peoples Emergency Department which allows us as a team to assess our patients from point of arrival in the hospital. It also demonstrates our ongoing commitment to making our service as forward thinking and innovative as we can.

We are based in Norwich, a vibrant city, which has been voted as the best city to live in, on consecutive years by the Guardian and Sunday Times. The historic city is filled with independent cafes, restaurants and shops, as well as all the typical high street chains. You can expect to spend your weekends exploring our beautiful coast, enjoying great coffee and treats in one of hundreds of cafes, walking in the countryside or watching a show at one of our many theatres. With excellent transport links to Cambridge and London, affordable housing and award-winning schools; Norfolk offers everything you require to establish the perfect work life balance.
