Nuffield Health is Britain's largest not-for-profit healthcare organisation. Join us as a Oncology Manager in our Guildford Hospital and play your part in building a healthier nation.

Nuffield Health Guildford provides high-quality healthcare for the people of Guildford and its surrounding areas. The hospital is easily accessible from the A3 or M25 and we are located about 1.5 miles from Guildford town centre.

We work with leading Consultants to offer a range of services and treatments for preventing, diagnosing and treating a wide array of medical conditions and offer a wide range of complex surgery and services. Our care is matron led and we are proud to have received a "good" rating from the health care regulator, the Care Quality Commission (CQC).

Our facilities include 49 en-suite patient bedrooms, 4 operating theatres, acute dependency and oncology units. We've been awarded the Macmillan Quality Environment Mark for cancer care. Our site is shared with an NHS Trust hospital, giving us access to their facilities. The working atmosphere is highly professional and stimulating, yet friendly and collaborative like that of a large family unit.

We are seeking a dynamic, innovative and highly motivated Oncology Lead nurse to manage, lead and inspire the oncology team. You will be ultimately responsible for managing the team, ensuring the delivery of high quality clinical care within a multidisciplinary team.

The oncology unit provides high level of care for patients from their initial diagnosis and referral to an oncologist, through treatment for cancer and onto to survivorship.

As Oncology Lead nurse, you will deliver high quality clinical patient care through assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of care. You will also be operationally responsible for the oncology and CNS teams, and be expected to actively contribute to service development, policies and strategies, identifying opportunities and supporting individuals in the delivery of high quality, clinically effective patient care through assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation. Working collaboratively alongside the Consultants and other key departments such as Diagnostic Imaging and Ward, you'll ensure the best possible treatment and care for our patients.

You will be fully accountable for the management of the department including leading, motivating and supervising a multidisciplinary team of qualified and support staff, undertaking human resource management, resource management, business management, budget management, business planning and development, audits and clinical governance, infection prevention, health and safety, plus risk analysis.

Your role will be key in supporting the Senior Management Team with the development and implementation of the departments.

As an experienced, registered nurse, your specialist training should include a nursing/practitioner qualification and/or postgraduate short courses, in addition to working experience at a senior/supervisory level in a clinical setting and the skills and knowledge to support this. Ideally, your wide ranging skills also comprise teaching and assessment, as well as ILS/ALS. If you have a professional management qualification, this is an advantage.

You will be confident in establishing credibility and building effective working relationships amongst key stakeholders and have the ability to negotiate with and influence others as you manage, motivate, support, develop and lead the department.

You will have excellent interpersonal and communication skills and a good level of IT literacy. High attention to detail, the ability to work to tight deadlines and manage multiple tasks is essential. You will also possess strong managerial and leadership skills.

If you would like the opportunity to develop your career and gain a wide range of skills, we would like to hear from you.
