Job Details

We currently have four clinical pods situated across Bristol, with one in North Somerset. We’re a rapidly expanding service with our main control pod being situated within the South West Ambulance clinical hub/control room in Bristol.

Our aim is to provide direct access to mental health services, reduce the need for S136 detention and provide a timely response, which improves the outcome and experience for the service user. This also allows us to reduce the demand on A&E and ambulances, improve working relationships between Police, Ambulance and health services, by offering support to our emergency service colleagues.

No two days are the same within our service as we strive to support the 999 emergency service care pathway. We have a cohesive, passionate energetic team of professionals from various backgrounds with a range of mental health experience.

We’re leading nationally on innovative processes including alternative points of conveyance, rapid first response from non-clinicians, integration into NHS 111 with an established response to all 999 services (Police, Ambulance and Fire services).

At AWP, we actively encourage applicants from all backgrounds; we are particularly keen to encourage applications from people from Black, Asian and minority ethnic backgrounds, those with disabilities and from the LGBTQ+ community. We want people to bring their unique blend of experiences, backgrounds, perspectives and knowledge to AWP, as diversity makes us stronger.
