Join our district nursing community
Could your nursing career be with us?
Our District Nursing Service is a team of caring and dedicated nurses who are passionate about community nursing and relish the opportunity to use their skills, experience, and knowledge to provide care in people’s own homes.
We have many opportunities within our teams that are based throughout Oxfordshire, whether you are looking for your first role as a newly qualified nurse, looking for promotion or a change of direction.
We are currently recruiting for the following roles:
District Nursing Team Leaders
Our team leaders work autonomously, deliver high quality and evidence-based nursing care, see problem-solving as a positive challenge, and are creative in many varied and unpredictable clinical situations. They are enthusiastic and take pride in leading their team to deliver proactive, caring, safe and excellent standards of patient care to their local communities.
This opportunity is available to nurses with proven leadership experience which does not have to be specifically based in the community. We welcome applications from experienced nurse leaders working in care homes, community hospitals, private hospitals, practice nursing or the acute sector.
Community Staff Nurses
Whether you are an experienced nurse looking for a new challenge or newly qualified this opportunity is for you if you have an active interest in community nursing and preventing hospital admissions, managing people in the end stages of their life or with chronic diseases.
Return to Practice
If you are ready to come back to nursing, we would love to have you join our team. We are always keen to welcome caring and compassionate individuals back into the profession. Your skills and experience are invaluable, and we aim to make it as straightforward as possible for you to return.
How we will support you to develop
We will support you through a District Nursing career progression framework, including additional specialist and advanced clinical practice training in this area. You will also receive regular 1:1 support and development and annual appraisal, regular group clinical supervision with your peers, and a comprehensive internal training programme around clinical competencies.
The District Nursing service in Oxfordshire is at the heart of developments in community care, as per the NHS Long Term Plan. A crucial part of the integrated community plans is recognition of the value of the District Nurse Specialist Practitioner Qualification for District Nursing Team Leaders, as advocated by The Queen’s Nursing Institute, The King’s Fund, and the RCN.
Working patterns
The service currently operates 7 days a week between the core hours of 08:00-18:30. Shift patterns available are 08:00-16:00, 10:30-16:30 or 08:00-18:30 with a definite emphasis on starting your day from your first visit to minimise the travel impact or driving into a base.
Does this opportunity sound interesting to you?
It takes a special kind of person to respond to the daily challenges of a modern health service with energy and compassion, putting patients at the heart of everything they do. If you think you have the right skills and values to join our team, then we would very much like you to hear from you.
