Introduction

If you are an experienced Ward Manager or senior nurse looking for the next step up in your career, then join the team at Farmfield Hospital in Surrey as a Ward Manager and be supported and valued as you experience what delivering great healthcare should feel like. 

With a team of junior and senior Nurses, Support Workers and a Deputy Ward Manager, you will To co-ordinate the quality and management of nursing care, patient care and the clinical environment with 24 hour responsibility for staffing. You will Manage and direct the delivery of clinical services within a ward or unit, ensuring it complies with statutory regulations, current legislation, and operational policies and meets quality standards.

 Your responsibilities:

  • Initiate, implement, support, and monitor quality and governance systems and processes including those that relate directly to patient care
  • Identify and evaluate potential improvements to the service
  • Discuss improvement ideas with appropriate people and agrees a prioritised plan of implementation to take forward agreed improvements
  • Ensure all employees managed have annual appraisals and personal development plans in place and comply with mandatory training
  • Evaluate the extent to which legislation and organisational policies and procedures on health, safety and risk management have been implemented and ensures compliance across the service
  • Investigate any actual or potential health, safety or security incidents and takes the required action
  • Articulate a vision for the service focus which generates enthusiasm and commitment with staff, patients, family, carers, and other professionals
  • Actively promote equality and diversity
  • Set stretching and challenging goals within the area of your responsibility and to drive the evaluation of performance indicators and standards
  •  Actively participate in an annual performance review (appraisal) and the development and implementation of a personal development plan
  • Communicate effectively and calmly in difficult situations and with difficult people
  • Maintain and evidence standards of competence as defined by the NMC, to remain registered.

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Experience working in a similar environment 
  • First level nurse with evidence of professional development, relevant skills and knowledge.
  • Experience as a Senior Nurse
  • Relevant sufficient post-registration experience
