Clinical Lead

Would you like to work with remarkable colleagues and meet extraordinary families while acting as an advocate for Helen & Douglas House and for Children’s Palliative Care? We encourage you to employ your clinical expertise by joining our utterly dedicated nursing team who are keen to support you in achieving clinical excellence, in every decision that you make.

Helen & Douglas House is a registered hospice charity based in Oxford, providing palliative, respite, end-of-life and bereavement care to life-limited children and their families. We foster a climate where team members feel able to openly question, debate and appropriately challenge their own and the practice of others.

As part of this role, you will have the ability to work autonomously: planning, implementing, and evaluating the care of children in the hospice who are on a Palliative Care or End of Life pathway, including symptom control. We are looking for someone who will provide strong clinical leadership and management to our team of Nurses and Clinical Support Workers, who provide nursing care for children and young people receiving care. Your active clinical leadership and positive role modelling will shine through when deputising for the Head of Care and working regular clinical shifts to provide direct patient care. If you are looking to set the clinical bar for our entire care team, in support of our Head of Care, this role is for you!

Full-time and part-time hours considered. The postholder will be required to take part in the Senior Nurse weekend on-call rota.

Helen and Douglas House offer the following employee benefits:

- 27 days holiday plus bank holidays, rising to 28 days after 3 years, and 29 days after 5 years of service.

- We are a direction agency for the NHS Pension Scheme.

- Eye care voucher scheme.

- Cycle to work scheme.

- Occupational sick pay and maternity pay.

- Enhanced maternity leave and shared paternity leave.

- A flexible working environment.

- Subsidised staff dining facilities.

- Investment in your CPD.

- Employee Assistance Programme.

- Recommend a friend scheme.

The closing date for the vacancy is Tuesday 31st May 2022.

Please note that everyone working for Helen & Douglas House are required to undertake a Disclosure and Barring Service check. Helen & Douglas House is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. We are an equal opportunities employer and value the benefits of a diverse workforce. We positively encourage applications from all areas of the community.
