An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Emergency Care Practitioner and educator, within the Urgent Care area of the Emergency Department. The Royal United Hospital (RUH) Bath is undertaking large scale change to become a leading trust in the progression towards integrated urgent care, combining urgent care and emergency medicine into one department with an ambition to become the best ED and integrated urgent care service in the country. Urgent Care has its on senior leadership team, who work in conjunction with the ED triumvirate, the vision for Urgent Care has been refreshed in 2022.

Clinicians within urgent care consist of Emergency Care Practitioners (ECP) (Nurse, Paramedic and physiotherapy), ED doctors, ACP's and General Practitioners. We are looking for an experienced practitioner to lead the educational agenda in Urgent Care, working in conjunction with the Urgent Care lead nurse and ED Consultant Nurse. We are in the process of introducing competencies to support increasing scope of ECP's across the minor injury/minor illness and paediatric domain. This will support increasing clinical skills and knowledge of practitioners in presentation management, radiological ordering and interpreting and development of procedural competencies including wound closure and limb reduction. The Senior CPF will support nurses and allied health professionals to develop their leadership skills and expertise, critical thinking, and create a culture that embraces practice development within their clinical area.

The Senior CPF will be a professional role model within urgent care and will contribute to service improvement. Support and guidance will be given in the development of new strategic roles, ie. band 6 ECP and streaming practitioner, as well as supporting our triage practitioners and urgent care workforce. You will be passionate about service and system improvement and will lead change and support strategic improvements in the area. We are in the process of relaunching our research agenda, for which the CPF will be instrumental in supporting. The CPF will strenghthen and maintain meticlulous training records and documentation and will provide an excellent learning environment in urgent care.
